July the 15th.

Hello!

How was today?

Today’s the 15th of July 2012. It’s a date that holds meaning for me. But I’m not supposed to remember or hold the significance anymore. I shouldn’t. I don’t want to. I don’t think I do anymore.

So. Remember defining yourself?

Your name might come to your mind first. A name holds reputation, character and authority.

Reputation is pretty much self-explanatory. Others know you by your name. And sometimes, they will know you even if you do not know them.

Character is something harder I think? Names have significance and meanings behind them. And, sometimes the meaning of the name suits the person.

Authority. I would just use the example that Major Paul used today. Imagine you’re driving, and a police car comes up behind you. If they said,’ In the name of the law, I demand you to pull over,’ would you pull over? As compared to ‘Stop, I tell you to stop in the name of Bugs Bunny,’ puts things into perspective, doesn’t it? The authority of the name.

But how often do we use God’s name the right way?

We often misuse God’s name in many ways. It’s insult, and sometimes we indulge in using the name. We use His name to intimidate and impress others. And we use His name a little too impulsively. We are just using God’s name in the wrong way with the wrong attitude. Do not use it as an exclamation mark or as a ‘wow’ word.

We should revere the name, represent the name in the correct way and rely on His name.

Rely on His name? Might sound a little vague.

John 20:31

King James Version (KJV)

31 But these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through his name.

Often, the unpleasant words that come out of our lips are due to the slip of the tongue, an unconscious bad habit. Are you able to watch your language?

God bless.
